As some of you may know, I’ve worked on cruise ships for the past 6 years, which means lots of traveling & LOTS of packing, repacking & packing again. I’d like to say I’ve gotten it down to a science but I’m still working on it. I’ve decided to create a list of some of my favorite ship essentials that I can’t leave home without.
First things first! This shower filter was a game changer for me. The ship water can be pretty harsh on the skin and hair. I noticed a huge difference once I started using this.
I like to bring a portable kettle to make tea & oatmeal in my room. It is deff a game changer.
A good water bottle. SO important!! The amount of times I have forgotten one & had to wait till I was in a port to go out & buy one. This is the one that I always bring onboard with me. It’s also smart to bring a reusable coffee cup if you want to make yourself a tea or coffee to go.
I like to put these cloth bins under my bed. Usually cabins don’t have the best clothing storage so this helps me stay organized.
FUN FACT: The walls in your cabin are magnetic! Which makes these magnetic shelves so handy!
I always like to have a wall calendar in my room so I can keep my schedule organized!
The mattresses on board are usually pretty old/ not super comfy. SO a mattress pad is a life saver!
Trust me, you'll want this! Ships don't have the best wifi & netflix usually won't even work on a good day. So be sure to bring an external hard drive with your fav shows on it.
Most of the time your cabin won’t have a window. So I always bring some type of daylight lamp. Here are a few that I’ve tried.
One thing I can’t go on a contract without are my twinkle lights & photos of my family & friends. You’re going to spend time in your cabin so you want to make it comfy & cozy to be in. It’s also a good idea to bring magnets & command hooks to put things on the walls. I also bring my favorite Polaroid printer to print off photos as I’m traveling.
I’m always short on plugins in my cabin so I always bring this cube so I can have my phone plugged in as well as my diffuser & lamp.
Vitamins! Vitamins! Vitamins! Make sure to bring lots of vitamin c and stay on top of your vitamin game! I like these vitamin C pouches. Easy to take & they taste great!
Sometimes the cabins don’t have the best air circulation. This little mini fan has saved me on contracts!
Because who doesn’t love their cabin to smell good!
